Before using the generator, you need to identify your audio unit's unique serial number. Try Method 1 first, as it doesn't require removing the radio.
On-Screen Serial Display (Buttons Combination)
Most Ford Focus stereos manufactured between 2004 and 2015 allow you to display the serial number directly on the digital screen using key shortcuts.
- Turn on your radio unit (it should display "CODE", "ENTER CODE", or "LOCKED").
- Press and hold predefined buttons 1 and 6 together for a few seconds.
- If nothing happens, release them and try holding down buttons 2 and 6.
- The screen will cycle through various technical configurations. Look closely at the final sequences.
What to look for: For popular 6000 CD and Sony systems, a string starting with M or V followed by 6 digits will appear (Example: V104928 or M009796).
Checking the Radio Side/Top Label
If the button shortcut does not work—which is very common on older 2000-5000 models, original Blaupunkt cassettes, and TravelPilot navigation systems—you must slide the radio out to read the factory sticker.
- Insert 4 standard Ford radio removal keys into the small slots located on the corners of the front panel.
- Apply gentle outward pressure to the keys and pull the unit forward out of the center console.
- Locate the white printed label attached to the metal casing.
Serial Layout Formats depending on unit type:
• V/M Series (6000 CD / Sony): Marked clearly as SERIAL NO. VXXXXXX.
• Blaupunkt Units: Look for a 12-digit number stamped directly into the metal or printed on the sticker (starts with 764...).
• TravelPilot (C7 System): Look for a longer code starting precisely with C7E3F... followed by 12 digits/letters.
How to Enter a Ford Focus Radio Code
Most Ford Focus models do not have a standard 0-9 numeric keypad. Instead, you enter your code using the preset buttons on your dashboard. Follow the correct method for your specific radio below.
Standard Radios (No Full Keypad)
Standard units like the Ford 6000 CD only have buttons 1 to 6. To enter digits like 7, 8, 9, or 0, you must press the corresponding button repeatedly to cycle through the numbers.
Turn on the unit
Ensure your ignition is on. The screen must show CODE or ----.
Input your 4-digit code
Use buttons 1, 2, 3, and 4 to set each digit of the code:
- Press Button 1 repeatedly until the first digit is correct.
- Press Button 2 repeatedly until the second digit is correct.
- Press Button 3 repeatedly until the third digit is correct.
- Press Button 4 repeatedly until the fourth digit is correct.
Confirm and save
Verify the 4-digit code on the display. Press and hold Button 5 for 2 to 3 seconds. The system will unlock.
Sony & Navigation Systems (With Keypad)
If your Focus has a premium Sony system or a touchscreen unit with a full telephone-style numeric layout (0-9):
- Type your 4-digit security code directly using the keypad numbers.
- Press the central OK button, the * (asterisk) key, or the # (hash) key to confirm.
Attempt Limits Alert
You have a maximum of 10 entry attempts. If you fail 10 times, the screen displays LOCKED 10. Do not try random codes. If the counter reaches LOCKED 13, the system locks down permanently at the hardware level.
