How to Find Your Ford Kuga Radio Serial Number

Before using our unlock generator, you need to locate your unit's unique serial number. Depending on your Ford Kuga model year and audio unit (6000 CD, Sony, or TravelPilot), follow one of the two quick methods below.

Method 1: No Removal Needed

Display Shortcut (6000 CD & Sony)

For standard Ford Kuga 6000 CD and single-CD Sony radio systems, you can easily retrieve the serial number directly on the screen using button combinations.

  • Turn key to position II (Ignition ON) and power on your stereo.
  • Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 together for 3 seconds.
  • If nothing happens, release and hold buttons 2 and 6 simultaneously.
  • The screen will cycle through system information. Look for a serial starting with V or M followed by 6 digits.

Method 2: Radio Removal

Radio Label Check (TravelPilot & Sony Touch)

If your Ford Kuga is equipped with a Blaupunkt TravelPilot FX / NX touchscreen navigation unit or if the screen shortcut fails on your Sony unit, you must remove the radio to read the sticker label on the metal chassis.

  • Unclip the plastic trim surrounding the center console carefully using plastic pry tools.
  • Unscrew the 4 Torx mounting screws (or insert 4 Ford radio release keys into the corner slots).
  • Pull the radio unit forward to access the rear/side casing.
  • Locate the printed label with the barcode and serial number engraved into the metal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about unlocking your Ford Kuga radio code.

Can I get a Ford Kuga radio code for free? +
Some serial numbers are 100% free! You can test your serial in our generator right awayβ€”older legacy models (like standard M-Series) are usually calculated free of charge. However, the majority of newer Ford units (such as V-Series, Sony DAB, or TravelPilot navigation) require a small fee. This is because modern security protocols rely on official server API lookups and high-cost database maintenance.
How do I find my Ford Kuga radio serial number without removing it? +
Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 (or 2 and 6) on your stereo unit simultaneously for 3 seconds. The screen will scroll through system information. Look for a code starting with V or M followed by 6 digits (e.g., V123456). If this shortcut doesn't display your serial, the unit must be briefly removed using radio release keys.
Why is my Ford Kuga radio asking for an entry code? +
Ford Kuga audio systems activate an anti-theft security lock whenever power is cut. This usually happens after a car battery replacement, battery drain, blown fuse, or electrical repairs. Entering the original 4-digit security code restores full function.
What happens if I enter the wrong Ford radio code? +
You have up to 10 attempts to enter the correct code. After 3 incorrect tries, the screen displays a timer (e.g., WAIT 30). If you reach 10 failed attempts, it displays LOCKED 10 or LOCKED 13, permanently freezing the unit until reset by an specialist auto technician.
Will I need to re-enter the code every time the battery is disconnected? +
Yes. The code remains permanently saved in your radio memory chip. Whenever power is lost, the stereo prompts for the exact same 4-digit code. Keep your retrieved code written down safely for future battery changes.
